Colored Bevels in Built-In Cabinets

Thank you both for the pictures! M.Deb. came to me with a request for colored bevels for a custom built in cabinet made by a locally owned and operated Smitty Built-Ins. The subtle blue and green bevels surrounded by a pale rose glass ribbon flow gracefully in this design.

Beveled Glass Circle Star

Beveled glass circle with beveled border and center star. Sparkel glass was used for the outer border giving it a hint of shimmer and shine framing this window beautifully. Privacy was important for bathroom.

Beveled Glass Dining Room Windows

A tropical flair was added to this set of windows by adding foliage in shades of green textured glass.

Bathroom Beveled Glass Sliding Windows

This design was made to simulate an arch top window in a bathroom. Custom beveled gluechip diamonds were used in the bottom center surounded by several clear textured glass choices for depth and definition.

Light hues work beautifully with clear bevels making the design flow gracefully without overpowering it. This window slides up to open. The window was designed to run seemlessly when closed.

Beveled Glass Sidelights Over Textured glass

I was comissioned to fabricate a pair of beveled sidelights with a design that would complement the front security door design. The glass in the sidelights is a very obscure flemish textured glass (see below). The homeowner did not want to remove this glass and asked us to surface mount the beveled glass panel.

I recommended that textured glass be replaced with clear glass to ensure the details of the beveled glass show best on both sides. I then took a small sample beveled panel I had and placed it over the textured glass to show my client the effect it would have. She was certain she wanted to keep the textured glass for privacy and surface mount the beveled glass.

The outcome was great!!! The beveled glass shows quite nicely in the interior of the home. The outline of the lead lines is very much visible on the exterior also.

Beveled Sliding Glass Door Bathroom Windows

Mrs. O. contacted me requesting replacement of her clear bathroom window with a privacy glass beveled window. The windows are sliding and she wanted to keep it that way since it is in her master bathroom over the bathtub. During the summer, it's nice to have that window open for air circulation. She had seen this design in a Model home and fell in love with it. After going over the glass choices, I recommended gluechip glass for maximum privacy. Thank you for the pictures!

Can you make a custom window using a tile pattern in my bathroom?

Thank you for your question Edith! Yes, I would need a picture of the design you wish to replicate. I can usually come up with something pretty close. I just finished a bathroom beveled glass window with exactly the same request. My client showed me the tile below and asked if I could make something to match. I was able to create the bevel design below that worked perfectly.

Beveled Glass Door Windows

My customer requested a simple bevel design for his farmhouse style home. The idea was to have a center elongated bevel cluster. Nothing too intricate. I proposed a few designs drawn to the actual scale of the window. This design was drafted and approve by the designer after a modification in the width of the bevels. There are 4 cabinets top and bottom that also needed glass inserts to match these beveled door windows. The beveled glass panel below is shown with natural sunlight behind it.The outer chord glass border was eliminated and the texture chosen was a tighter hammered pattern for the cabinets.

What are Surface Mounted Stained or Beveled Glass Panels?

Hi Sarak and thank you for your question! This is a good example of a surface mounted window application. There is no need to replace these windows because they are all fixed (cannot open) and the glass is clear with no grids or divisions. Perfect, because this design will not be obstructed by any lines in the background. This type of installation keeps the price down because there is no need to remove glass and no need to triple glazed (encapsulate) the art glass. It is hardly noticable that these windows are mounted on the surface of the clear glass pane.
This home has high ceilings so an extension ladder is needed to install the beveled glass panels on the interior side of the window. The installation takes a little longer because of the caution needed when climbing the ladders as well as decending. When the art glass piece is larger, we prefer using a scaffold (temporary metal frame used to support people and material during installation) to ensure the safety of the installer. Scaffolding is an additional charge.
After the window is shimmed and placed, a bead of clear silicon is applied around the panel to the edge of the drywall. Typically this is good enough to hold the glass in place and is how we finish this type of installation. This homeowner requested the window be surounded by a 1/4" round molding so it could be painted the color of the wall to simulate a thin picture frame.
The wood trim is caulked at the seams and the nail holes are filled. It is always best for the homeowner to provide the paint to ensure the color matches. There are many shades of white, trust me!

Custom Beveled Bathroom Windows

Bevels in bathroom windows are so beautiful. There is no need to worry about privacy because the glass surrounding the bevels can be obscure clear textured glass. This design was fabricated with a combination of 3 textures. The bevels as well as the textured border sparkle in the light.
